5 – California Murders,
- Three girls exhausted from handing out halloween candy all night, two of them went upstairs to sleep and the third, Lauren, in the first-floor bedroom
- Lauren was woken up by breaking glass and screams – her first instinct was to run outside, but she came back in when she saw an intruder jumping out through the kitchen window
- She went back upstairs to find her two friends covered in blood and vicious wounds through their body – they later died, but the killer was later found when his blood was found at the scene
4 – Halloween Movie,
- A 17 year old kid called Jake Evens who’d watched the film Halloween one too many times – he described the scene in which a young boy murders his family with no remorse as inspiration for his own crime
- He used a gun instead of a knife to ambush his sister – he knocked on her door saying their mom needed to talk to her, then he pulled out a gun when her back was turned
- At first she thought he was joking, until her plugged her full of shells and then went downstairs to finish the job murdering his own mother
- He later claimed his actions would haunt him forever – as it should
3 – Law Change,
- Back in the day laws were more lax – kids could walk around in the dead of night all by themselves to trick or treat
- That all changed when a 9 year old girl was abducted, raped and killed by a local neighbour with her body dumped in a plastic bag near a farm field
- Since then, that local area of Fond du Lac schedules trick or treating only between 3:30pm to 5:30pm when it’s still daylight the Sunday before Halloween only accompanied by parents
2 – Egg Murder,
- Halloween night, 1998, A 21 year old who went out to pick up his girlfriend and her son from a party
- In the car, he was assaulted by a pack of kids who flung eggs – enraged, he jumped out of his car door to speak to them
- Instead, one kid pulled out a gun and shot the guy in the head – he died instantly and the kid was never found
1 – Hanging Woman
- 2005, Halloween night, a 42 year old woman commits suicide by hanging herself from a public tree in Frederica, Delaware
- For hours, motorists would shrug off the dead woman by thinking it was a halloween prop – but after a while police were called in to verify
- The woman lived a quarter mile from the tree, and once they discovered it really was a dead woman the police quietly removed her body from the scene
