8 Mysterious Places That Are Hard To Explain

  1. Racetrack Playa, Death Valley

3

  • Death Valley is already a disturbing place to be in let alone when you stumble upon rocks with long trails in the dirt behind them.
  • Racetrack Playa in the valley has been home to this unique phenomenon for quite some time. Originally stumbled upon by minors in the 40s, these apparently moving rocks were a mystery for 70 years. While some believed them to be some weird alien lifeform hiding as a rock, science had another answer.
  • The Playa is very, very flat combined with ice forming on the surface and 90 mph winds meant the rocks could sail. This wasn’t proven though till 2014 where researchers captured the rocks moving on camera.
  1. Overtoun Bridge

2

  • Welp, if there was anything such as an evil, possessed, demon bridge than this is it.
  • Overtoun Bridge has been puzzling native Scots for half a century, why? Because Dog’s keep committing suicide there. We aren’t talking about a few dogs either…50 in the last 50 years. And they all jump from pretty much the same spot. Hell there’s stories that puppers who survived went back up and jumped again.
  • Researchers think it’s because of mink scents causing the dogs to jump but local hunters say there has never been mink there. On top on all this, in 1994 a man through his infant child off the bridge claiming that the bridge made him do it. Someone call Stephen King, Haunted Devil Bridge should be his next book.
  1. The Skeleton Lake

4

  • Ever had nightmares about falling into a lake and then being dragged down by skeletons? No? Just me then?
  • Anyway named “The Skeleton Lake”, this place found in India in WW2 has been a bit of a mystery. Soldiers discovered this remote lake was filled with over 200 skeletons. The soldiers at the time assumed it must have been a mass grave of retreating Japanese troops.
  • But studies revealed that skeletons were from 850 A.D. On top of that they also had the same circular hole in the top of the skull. This led some to think it was the site of ritualistic sacrifices. But most reasonable theory at the moment is that they were pilgrims killed by a freak hailstorm.
  1. The Devil’s Sea

1

  • You probably haven’t heard of the Bermuda Triangle’s pacific cousin, but you should have because it’s much more interesting.
  • The Devil’s Sea of Dragon’s Triangle exists between the southern coast Japan and Guam. It’s been the site of many ship’s sinking, UFO sightings and instrumentation anomalies. Military aircraft and Navy from both the US and Soviet Union have spotted strange lights both in the skies and in the water.
  • What seems to have spurred on the mythical nature is the disappearance of the Kaiyo Maru #5. A ship researching the area, it vanished without a trace 1952. Though most believe it was destroyed by an underwater volcano. Either way Japanese authorities advise the area is very dangerous.
